Follow the footsteps of the Eurovision zombies

It has been ten years since the Finnish band LORDI with its eerily beautiful performance of the song “Hard Rock Halleluja” won the Eurovision Song Contest. While the hard rockers take on the stage in elaborate monster outfits – remember the extendable bat wings – their hometown Rovaniemi is a little bit more peaceful.

The central located Santa’s Hostel Rudolf is an ideal starting point to explore the area and even cross the Arctic Circle yourself. Pilke Science Center, Arktikum and the LORDI square are further highlights close by. Known for large amounts of snow, northern lights and the residence of Santa Claus, Lapland is not only worthwhile in winter.

Reached in an hour you can also relax at the direct lake access of Hostel Kemijärvi in the daytime.

But keep in mind: the extremely long nights during the summer months are particularly fascinating, when the sun illuminates the idyllic Lapland and its unique nature brightly all night long.
